Video is becoming an increasingly popular mode of digital storytelling. Most social media platforms haveone if not more different options for utilising video to create and share stories.
Video can be combined with text, subtitles, graphics, overlaid with still images and fused with voices,
music and sound effects to create engaging stories.
These are perfectly suited in an educational context as they are an ideal format for collaboration and
project-based learning. With modern mobile technology, videos can be captured and edited and shared
on the same device using simple apps. We will be demonstrating using simple built-in apps that come
with iOs or Apple devices and there are plenty of Android and Apple alternatives – the same basic
functionality and features are included in most apps.
We will also be giving you access to a licensed version of a cloud-based video editing app called
WeVideo. It has a stock library of over a million videos, pictures, graphics, music and sound effects that
are royalty-free and ideal for creating and editing videos in the classroom. You can combine your own
video with the stock footage or use either option – whichever you prefer.
